Red Ribbon

Red Ribbon Week: a community-wide October tradition dedicated to drug abuse prevention, proudly supported by the Livingston Police Department.

Red Ribbon originated in 1985 to honor Federal Drug Enforcement Agent "Kiki" Camerino, who was violently killed in Mexico by drug cartel members. What started as a local event in San Diego grew into a nationwide event within two years.

One entire week in October is dedicated to drug abuse prevention. Events are held throughout the week to drive home the message of the dangers of using illegal drugs. The Livingston Police Department has not only supported this very worthwhile program, but has become an active participant in the week-long event. We commend and thank all of the volunteers who have dedicated their time and efforts to this great program.
