The purpose of the department's volunteers is to be good witnesses while watching for suspicious persons and criminal activity. That information is reported to on-duty officers, who take appropriate and necessary action.
Volunteers participate in neighborhood watch, vehicle abatement, Fourth of July celebrations, animal control, traffic control, and fingerprinting. In addition, they support Dispatch by answering business telephone lines, handling citizen inquiries, and providing general clerical services.
