Eva Ybarra was an active commissioner on the Livingston Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission and the inspiration behind the commission's scholarship, first offered in 2019, a scholarship she funded out of her own pocket in its first year.
Eva was an upstanding member of Livingston with a deep passion and love for her community. She served with the Merced County Association of Governments, volunteered as a coach for City recreation programs on numerous occasions, and was a team captain for the Relay for Life cancer walk.
Eva's life was taken tragically and unexpectedly on October 2, 2023. She was loved by many and left behind wonderful memories. In 2024, the commission unanimously renamed the scholarship the Eva Ybarra Memorial Scholarship in her honor.
