Youth Baseball Rules: T-Ball

Lil Guys T-Ball rules: everyone bats, everyone plays, everyone wins.

The Youth Baseball "Lil Guys League" is designed for recreational enjoyment with an emphasis on developing fundamentals, having fun, fair play, and above all, good sportsmanship.

Playing field

  • A foul line marked by a 20-foot arc from home plate shall be drawn between 1st and 3rd base across the playing field. A batting tee shall be placed behind home plate.
  • Bases will be at 60 feet.

Key playing rules

  • Games are 1 hour. No new inning will begin 5 minutes before the time limit.
  • Players hit the ball off the batting tee and it must pass the infield foul line to be playable. Coaches pitch to the players in the last half of the season from the 35-foot pitching rubber: 5 pitches, then the player may take 2 swings off the tee.
  • One base on an overthrow; runners cannot steal home. Ten players take positions in the field; eight players are needed to start the game.
  • All players bat during the entire game, in rotation, regardless of playing defense at the time. Everyone wins in T-Ball!
  • All team members play on defense at least one inning at all games.
  • Rubber cleats or tennis shoes only; batting helmets required on deck and on base.
  • Each team will receive participation awards.
