Courtyard Plaza
Main Street & Third Street, Livingston, CA 95334
A downtown plaza on the site of the historic Court Theater, a 1916 Art Deco landmark.
The park sits on the property of the old "Court Theater." The original theater was held in the Court Building in 1916 on Third Street. The theater caught fire in the early hours of July 12, 1945, damaging Court's theater to such an extent that it was made useless for further operations. As a result, a new theater was built on Third Street (now Main Street) next to the Library (now the Historical Society).
The Court Theater, and the Court family, were true pioneers of Livingston. While the theater created many wonderful memories for our residents, its Art Deco structure was a diamond for the downtown in its early days. The Livingston Historical Society has a collection of pictures, movie posters, history, and memories shared by our residents.
